Buttermilk Pancakes

Ingredients
  • 250mL (1 cup) All-purpose flour
  • 15mL (1 tbsp) Granulated sugar
  • 2.5mL (1/2 tsp) Salt
  • 2.5mL (1/2 tsp) Baking soda
  • 1 Egg
  • 250mL (1 cup) Cultured buttermilk
  • 30g (2 tbsp) Melted butter
Preparation
  1. Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl. 

  2. In a separate bowl, mix the egg and cultured buttermilk. 

  3. Add to dry ingredients, stirring until smooth. Add the butter and gently mix. 

  4. Ladle and cook on lightly oiled griddle or frying pan. When air bubbles form on surface, turn and cook for about 1 minute or until golden brown.

  5. Serve with syrup and fresh fruit. 

Tips

For thinner pancakes, stir in up to 60 mL (1/4 cup) more cultured buttermilk.
